Code of Ethics

for the Au Pair

In order to create harmony, a peaceful living environment, both the Au Pair and the Host Family are responsible.   To achive this AupairHunter proposes a basic type of behaviour, common sense !

AupairHunter BASIC CODE OF PRACTICE

Accept only those positions which you are capable of handeling (do not accept a family with 4 children if you are not very experienced in childcare)

• Be honest about your health situation                                              
• be honest about your child care experience
• Treat your family and their belongings with respect
• Be confidential with all information 
• Being an Au Pair can not be seen as a holiday opportunity or similar, it should be considered a job with responsibilities.
• Assume responsibility & loyalty:  If you decide to leave before the agreed time give your host family enough notice to help them reorganize.  If possible a fair time would be 2 weeks.
• Before you decide think twice:  Your decision is a compromise and an obligation.  If you decide to go to a Host Family for a certain time, it is your responsibility to do so.   A Host Family depends on you and excluded other potential Au Pairs for your benefit, so now they depend on you.  Before you decide, think twice.   Be honest if you are not sure about your decision, so the family knows.
• Stick to your decision:  Too late to back  out, when you are in situ.  Think before deciding.  Explore advantages and disadvantages and request all information in advance.   It is recommended to exchange telephone calls and e-mails in order to get to know each other better.  There are no stupid questions, please simply ask if you are not sure about something.

If you feel that any party has not followed this code of ethics, we will include them in our internal Black List.  Personally we will contact them to verify the situation and clean up our data base to avoid any future similar circumstances.  Please notify us of any abuse.
