VISA AND REGULATIONS IN CANADA
Conditions: As a host family you must have a least 1 child living in your household (minor of age).
Age: At the time of application the Au Pair should be at least 19 and maximum 30 years old.
Working hours: The Au Pair works Usually 40 to max. 48 hours/week
Pocket money: Aproximate 600 $/Month
Duration of stay: Maximum 12 months. You have the possibility to extend your stay up to maximum 2 years.
Insurance: Even if the host family covers a basic health insurance for the Au Pair. It is strongly advised to get an additional (private) health insurance, as well as liability insurance from the Au Pair’s country of origin. Please check with your insurance company if your insurances are valid for the countries where you want to go as an Au Pair.
Travel costs and other costs: The Au Pair should pay for these costs. In some cases the host family pays these costs (partly).

Young people from most countries can become an Au Pair in the United Status of America, with exception of those countries without diplomatic relations with USA.
If you want to become an Au Pair in U.S.A. you will need a J-1 Visa. This visa permits you a 12 month legal residence.
After you visa-application you need to go through one of the 12 federally designated Au Pair agencies

After a successful year you have the possibility to extend your stay as an Au Pair for another 6, 9 or 12 months.
Of course the Au Pair has the possibility to enter the United States on a tourist visa. But it is not allowed to work in America while being there as a tourist.
Once the Au Pair and the host family agreed on a placement, and before receiving the Visa, the following fees are due:
- The placement fee. This is a non-refundable fee of 100USD
- Deposit of good faith: This deposit is refundable, once you have successfully finished your 12 month program. This deposit can be refunded the 13th month to the Au Pair. The good faith deposit refund is responsibility of the Au Pairs agency. (AupairHunter is not an Agency)
- J-1 Visa that the American consulate will issue for you, costs about 50 €.
Conditions: the Au Pair will need to have a driver’s licence, a certificate of health, a certificate of good conduct, and childcare experience.
Age: At the time of application the Au Pair should be at least 18 and maximum 26 years old.
Working hours: Au Pairs in America normally work about 40 to 45 hours a week.
Pocket money: The Au Pair earns 195.85 US Dollars a week (from this amount will be subtracted 40 % for room and board)
Duration of stay: The Au Pair can stay up to 1 year. This stay can be extended.
