AU PAIR IN AUSTRALIA

VISA AND REGULATIONS IN AUSTRALIA

http://www.tourism.australia.com/

Australia has an agreement with other counties which is called a WORKING HOLIDAY PROGRAMME.   This means that instead as an Au Pair, you can go there as a WORKING HOLIDAY MAKER.  (You need to be a citizen of a country which has signed a reciprocal Working Holiday Maker Arrangement with Australia).   This agreement also allows Australian citizens to go to one of these countries.   See below general requirements more information about this programme.

Age: At the time of application the Au Pair should be at least 18 and maximum 30 years old.

Working hours: The Au Pair is expected to work between 25 and 35 hours a week.

Pocket money: Depending of the hours and the amount of household work this should be 80 to 220 Australian Dollars per week.

Duration of stay: Working Holiday Makers can stay up to 1 year, but maximum 6 months with the same employer.

Financial Requirements: You must be in the position of a return ticket, or at least have the funds to purchase this ticket.  There is also an aprox. 5000 AUD fund required to support yourself at the beginning of your stay.

Health Insurance Even if the host familie covers the health insurance for the Au Pair, it is strongly advised to get an additional (private) health insurance from the Au Pair’s country of origin.

Travel costs and other costs:  Usually the Au Pair pays the travel costs him/herself.  But if the host family would like to participate in these costs we recommend to do this when the Au Pair arrived, and stayed with the host family for at least a part of the agreed time. Please check with your insurance company if your insurances are valid for the countries where you want to go as an Au Pair.

General Requirements:
