VISA AND REGULATIONS IN AUSTRIA

http://www.austria.info/xxl/_site/sp/_area/420640/_subArea/691315/_subArea2/691684/index.html

Travelling in Europe has been simplified with the introduction of the Schengen visa.

A schengen Visa allows you to travel freely throughout the Schengen area, since the previous border controls have disappeared.

The Au Pair can apply this “Schengen visa “from the consulate or embassy of the country of destination.  If there doesn’t exist a consulate or embassy in the country from where you are applying for a visa, you can do this from a consulate or embassy in the nearest country to your own.   For example, if the country of destination is Austria, you must apply for a visa from an Austrian mission. In certain cases Austria may be represented by another Schengen country, from which an Austrian visa may be applied:

See a list of those other Schengen countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, France, Norway, Germany, Spain, Iceland, Sweden, Italy, Greece, Luxemburg and Portugal.

Age: At the time of application the Au Pair should be at least 18 and maximum 28 years old.

Working hours:  The Au Pair normally works around 20 hours a week

Pocket money: The Host family pays the Au Pair min. 260 €/month.

Duration of stay: The Au Pair can stay up to 1 year.

Insurance Even if the host family covers the health insurance for the Au Pair, and medical assistance is guaranteed within European Community countries (with a EHIC form or European medical card) it is strongly advised to get an additional (private) health insurance from the Au Pair’s country of origin. Please check with your insurance company if your insurances are valid for the countries where you want to go as an Au Pair.

Travel costs and other costs: The Au Pair should pay for these costs.

Please note that this is only part of the entire information you will need, since these regulations often are changed or updated.   Use it as a guideline because we cannot guarantee that all information is correct at this time.  Contact the embassy and/or department of immigration for more details.
