How to choose the right Host Family. 

To choose the right Host family is not an easy job.   The internet offers many possibilities, but also lots of frauds or hidden data.  At AupairHunter we recommend that you to take your time and do not apply the “first come, first served” tactic.   Experience through us to focus on making the right selection instead of a hasty decision, that needs a lot of compromise afterwards.

AupairHunter offers different tools to make your selection.   Please try to be realistic about your needs.  Also be specific and not only answer "not relevant".    Think again and specify your preferences.  If the result isn’t the desired one, make a new selection and widen your options.

We have created a concept, including many detailed selection criteria in order to help you make a tailor made selection finding the right Host family that really fits your expectations.   We also provide for our members with information on how to make a better selection.   Furthermore we recommend you exchange several emails, telephone conversations, and watch eachothers video in order to get to know and understand each other better.

Please consider that the Au Pair and the host family are going to live together for a while.  To make it a good experience for both, the “chemistry” has to be compatible.  Do not feel ashamed about asking some delicate questions, but also try to be polite without offending anybody.

Be honest about your information, follow our Code of Ethics, and the data given, but if you should feel cheated by a particular member please help by notifing us about a problem.  With your help we can prevent repeated abuse.

AupairHunter recommends you to ask for references with contact details of previous Au Pairs (in case you are not the first Au Pair).  This can help you verify the information received.

A good idea is to ask for the GPS coordinates, so you can find out the surroundings of where your potential host family lives, with a simple programme such as Google earth.
