If your Au Pair would have to look after more than three children, the pocket money should be increased by 10 or 15 percent (per child). The same is expected if you would like the Au Pair to carry out more than the light housework: e.g. gardening, cleaning windows, weekly cleaning Standard job includes : cooking meals for the children, vacuuming, emptying the dishwasher, grocery shopping, doing part of the laundry and ironing, except for the families underwear and difficult things like blouses.
Please consider that not every Au Pair is willing to do extra household duties. It is important to have good communication with your selection of favourite Au Pairs, to avoid misunderstandings. At this stage it would be helpful to work out a detailed job description.
